Aria Grillo PsyD
Dr. Aria Grillo is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of New York. She is currently completing her postdoctoral fellowship in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient and Inpatient Departments of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Grillo also provides psychotherapeutic services within NewYork-Presbyterian’s CopeNYP program supporting NYP employees and their families.
Dr. Grillo completed her Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology from Wheaton College in MA, graduating with honors. She earned her Doctorate in Psychology from Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology with a combined specialization in clinical child and school psychology. She also earned her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from this institution. Dr. Grillo completed an APA-accredited internship at NYU Langone Medical Center’s Rusk Rehabilitation Center, child neuropsychology program. Her training has also included extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient settings, community mental health centers, non-profit organizations, and schools.
Dr. Grillo has expertise across the lifespan with specific interests in treating children, adolescent, young adults and families experiencing issues related to anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, PTSD, emergent psychosis, OCD, ADHD, as well as family and interpersonal stressors. She has received training in evidence-based interventions and therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT, CBT-P, CBT-H and TF-CBT), dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, exposure/response prevention, and parent management training. Dr. Grillo has published on a variety of topics including patient engagement and advocacy, leadership training, supervision, and has clinical interests in sleep hygiene, strengthening programs for child and adolescent patients on in-patient units.
Dr. Grillo utilizes an integrative approach to therapy and greets each patient as a person first, patient second. Through validation, support, and meeting each person where they’re at, Dr. Grillo aims to help each patient and their families build insight, learn tools and strategies, gain confidence, skills, and become the best advocates for themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
